Bantry Bay is tucked in against Lion's Head and stays calm when the southeaster is blowing elsewhere, so pools here get used hard all summer. We resurface, reline and repair villa and apartment block pools on some of the steepest ground on the Atlantic Seaboard.
Bantry Bay has no beach of its own, so the pool is where most people actually swim. Because the bay is sheltered from the wind, those pools see long, still, hot afternoons. That is lovely for swimming. It is harder on the pool, because warm, still water burns through chlorine fast and the sun works on the finish every day.
The other thing that shapes every job here is the ground. Homes and apartment blocks are stepped into the slope above the rocky shore, and many pools sit on terraces, podiums or upper decks. A pool built that way can crack at the joints, lose water through old fittings and leak into the rooms below. We check for all of that before anyone talks about colours and finishes.

Most Bantry Bay pools need one of two surface treatments. The right one depends on how sound the shell is, whether it leaks, and how much time you want to spend cleaning it. We look at the pool properly and explain the options in plain terms.

If the shell is solid and the trouble is a worn, pitted surface, fresh marbelite is a sensible choice. We hack off the loose plaster, cut out and fill the cracks, and trowel on a new coat in the colour you choose.
A pool on a terrace or above living space needs a surface that stays watertight, and fibreglass does that well. It bonds to the existing shell as one continuous layer, which makes it a strong choice for pools that have leaked before.

Resurfacing is usually only one part of the work. Tiles, pipes, lights and the pump room often need attention at the same time, and it makes sense to do it while the pool is empty.

Fresh waterline tiles and mosaic details that hold up to strong sun and pool chemicals.

We repair the cracks and joints that open up when a pool sits on a stepped, sloping site.

We trace water loss in the shell, pipes and fittings before it damages the floors below.

Pump rooms here are often tucked under decks, so we service and replace equipment in tight spaces.

Where there is a level spot for it, we pump the pool into a bladder and put the water back afterwards.

Still, sunny afternoons mean the chemistry needs regular checking to keep the new finish clean.
Call us if there is a damp patch or stain on a ceiling under the pool, if you keep topping up, or if the water goes cloudy within days of a clean.
Apartment block pools come with a body corporate, other residents and often a managing agent. We give the trustees a written scope and a work schedule up front, agree on working hours, and plan how materials go up in the lift or along the service route without blocking the entrance or the parking bays.
Villas on the upper slopes are a different challenge. Roads are steep, parking is scarce and the pool is often several levels below the street. We look at the route from the van to the pool on the first visit, so the quote already allows for carrying everything in and taking the old plaster out.
We look at the pool, the access route and the pump room, and test whether the pool is losing water.
You or your body corporate get a clear scope with the recommended finish and why we chose it.
The pool is drained, loose plaster comes off, and cracks, joints and fittings are fixed.
The new finish goes on, the pool is filled and balanced, and we show you how to look after it.

Yes. We work with the trustees or managing agent, agree on working hours and access, and keep the common areas clean while the job is running. The quote is written so it can go straight to a body corporate meeting.
Often it is, because fibreglass forms one continuous waterproof layer. We first find and fix any existing leak, then recommend the finish that suits the shell. Sometimes good repairs plus marbelite are enough.
Warm, still water and strong sun use up chlorine much faster than people expect. A rough, porous surface also gives algae more places to hold on. Balancing the water properly and a smoother finish both help.
We plan the route on the first visit and carry materials in by hand where we have to. Old plaster is bagged and taken out the same way, so nothing is left on the stairs or the street.
Plan on one to two weeks for most resurfacing or relining work, then a short curing period before refilling. We give you the timeline in the quote and tell you early if weather changes it.
Send us a few details about your Bantry Bay pool and we will book a free site visit to look at resurfacing, relining, leaks or repairs.
