Llandudno is a small, quiet bay between Camps Bay and Hout Bay, with homes built into the slopes and around huge granite boulders. We renovate and repair the pools that go with them, including pools that run right up against natural rock.
Many Llandudno houses were designed to sit into the landscape, so the pool is often cut into the slope or built hard up against a boulder. It looks wonderful. The weak point is where concrete meets granite, because the two move differently and that joint is where cracks and slow leaks tend to start.
Then there is the sea. The bay faces straight onto the Atlantic, and salt and fine sand blow up from the beach onto decks, into skimmers and into the pump room. Over the years that wears out the surface, the tiles and the equipment. A good renovation here deals with all three, not just the plaster.

We offer both marbelite and fibreglass, and we recommend whichever one suits your pool. That decision is made on site, after we have looked at the shell, the rock joints and how much water the pool is losing.

Marbelite has a natural, stone-like look that sits well next to granite and fynbos. We remove the failing plaster, repair the shell and any rock joints, and apply a new coat in a colour that suits the setting.
Where a pool keeps leaking at the rock edge or through a porous shell, a fibreglass lining is usually the more lasting fix. It forms one waterproof layer over the old surface and stays smooth, so sand and salt residue wipe off easily.

Most renovations in Llandudno include some repair and equipment work as well. We handle it all as one job, so the pool is drained and refilled only once.

Waterline and feature tiles chosen to cope with salt air and strong western sun.

We repair the joints where a pool meets natural rock, which is where many leaks begin.

We test the shell, rock joints, pipes and fittings one by one until the leak is found.

Sand and salt air shorten the life of pool equipment, so we check it on every renovation.

If there is a flat area, we hold the pool water in a bladder and refill with it after the work.

Regular visits keep a new finish clean, which helps if you are not always at home.
Have the pool checked if the water drops faster in one spot of the deck, if you see cracks running along a rock edge, or if the pump room is always damp.
We cover the Atlantic Seaboard from Llandudno and Hout Bay up to Camps Bay and Bakoven.
Llandudno has no shops and is a purely residential bay, which is a big part of its appeal. For us it means planning. We bring everything the job needs on the first trip, from plaster and fibreglass to spare fittings, so we are not running back and forth over the hill to Hout Bay or Camps Bay.
We also keep the noise and mess down. Hacking off old plaster is loud, so we agree working hours with you up front and get the noisy part done as quickly as we can. Rubble is bagged and taken away, and the streets stay clear for your neighbours.
We inspect the shell, rock joints, tiles and equipment, and run a water-loss test.
You get a written quote with the finish we recommend, working hours and a timeline.
We drain the pool, remove failing plaster and seal cracks, joints and leaking fittings.
The new finish is applied and cured, then the pool is filled and the water balanced.

Yes. We clean and repair the joint where the concrete meets the rock, then finish the pool up to it neatly. If that joint has been leaking, we deal with it first so the new surface is not undermined.
Not if it is planned properly. We bring the materials and spares we need on the first trip and schedule deliveries in advance, so the work keeps moving.
Yes, as long as we have agreed access and someone to call if a decision comes up. We send photos at the main stages, so you can see the progress and the finished pool.
Marbelite has a softer, stone-like look that many people prefer next to granite. Fibreglass is better at sealing a pool that has leaked at the rock edge. We recommend one after seeing the shell and the joints.
Yes. Salt air corrodes metal fittings, clamps and electrical parts over time, and fine sand wears pump seals. We check the pump room on every renovation and replace parts that are close to failing.
